I am a Lebanese citizen who lived abroad for many years. I never thought I would be back one day, yet I am back. Today, I live in the heart of Beirut, with all its flaws and beauties.
On weekends, I wander the streets of the city and capture the forgotten corners. Strangely, I always come across poetic, funny, disenchanted or surrealistic sceneries and faces.
In March 2016, after visiting an exhibition at the Beirut Art Center, I was told the Center would soon be destroyed for the construction of a modern giant. It made me sad. I thought of the fragility of things in this town. I realized that my corners are vanishing, that every setting I captured throughout the years could cease to exist. I went home with an incredible desire to share my images. This is how "Beirut Footsteps" was born.
