Mokhtara To Haret Jandal In Autumn

Dear hikers,

In the Autumn season, we will explore the beauty of shouf district. So we will be taking u to hike from mokhtara to haret jandal, located 56 kms away from Beirut, in the shouf biosphere reserve on an altitude of 825m.

The name of mokhtara meaning the chosen , it is a reference to the decision of sheikh Ali Rabah Joumblat (the grandfather of sheikh Bashir joumblat) to choose this village to build his own palace. The palace was built in the 17th century over the ruins of Roman citadel

Our 12 kms medium to advanced trail with a hike duration of 5 hrs, with an uphill of 650 m and a downhill of 436 m will be along the barouk river, a walk under the impressive cliff of amatour, crossing two ottoman and mamlouk wooden bridges, old caves, old mills, old burial ground, a waterfall, and finally a forest track and amazing Romanian stairs that will lead us to the end of the trail.

Meeting point: behind DHL - Jal el dib facing the Canadian embassy ( we can pick our hikers that live on our way)

Hiking distance: 12 kms (level 5/10 advanced)

Total hiking duration: 5 hrs

Moving time: 4 hrs

Required materials: jacket to keep warm, hiking boots, backpack, hat, 2L of water, raincoat, sunglasses, sunscreen, healthy snacks, hat.

Fees: 40000 LBP (including transportation, guidance, reserve entrance fees, 5 mins warming up, stretching, first aid kit but does not include medical insurance)
