Ramzi Mallat's second solo exhibition, entitled "Unearthed", is on display at the Instituto Cervantes in Beirut from February 19th till March 16th, 2018. The opening night, which took place on Monday, 19thFebruary, gathered many VIPs, including the Ambassadors of Colombia, Argentina and Chile in Lebanon, the artist's family and entourage along with the Instituto Cervantes' team and a cool crowd of art enthusiasts and creatives.
In this exhibition, the artist focuses on a more conceptual representation of the relationship humanity has with natural elements. Ramzi displays a series of photographs, one triptych sculptural installation as well as two videos, one of which is in collaboration with the Swiss artist Sara Koller.
Ramzi Mallat is a Lebanese-born artist who studied Fine Art at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. His work includes painting, sculpture, photography, video, installation and sound. He has taken part in group exhibitions at the Peter Scott gallery and The Storey gallery as well as participated in an artist residency with the IMOS foundation, established by Briony Kapoor. He organized his first solo exhibition in Lebanon at the UNESCO Palace last April 2017. Entitled "Roots", this exhibition showcased 5 years of work which include paintings, sculptures and photographs that engender and question the abstract concept of origins.
