The Rotaract Club of Byblos and the Long Wing Butterfly Association organized an information session on the World Hemophilia Day Tuesday the 17th of April 2018 at the Cultural center in Byblos, attended by President of Jbeil-Byblos municipality Wissam Zaarour. Dr. Elie Bechara, a blood specialist, talked about this disease in terms of types, causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment.
The session also included a live testimony from Mr. Maarouf Chebbo, a 16 years old teenager with Hemophilia, who talked about the challenges he faced when first diagnosed, and how he became a public speaker, painter and a poetry writer. The association director Mrs. Denise Taouk talked about the importance of the work done in the NGO for the patients, in collaboration with the Ministries of Health and Social affairs, which were represented in the event accordingly by Mr. Elie Zeytouni and Mr. Zahi El Haiby.
The session included as well words from Marc Harb, President of the Rotaract Club of Byblos, and Jose Zaarour, Past President of the Club.
The session was followed by the lighting of the Byblos Crusader's Castle in red for support of the Hemophilia disease in the presence of all the attendees.
