The Roman Stairs To Marj Bisri

Dear hikers,

This hike that is located in Jezzine district - south of Lebanon will be exceptional.
It is one of the most beautiful trails in Lebanon where we will have the chance to walk in the valley of Bisri, near the river bank (Barouk river).

Bisri is in Jezzine district, located between Mount Lebanon and south of Lebanon, and the border line between Jezzine district and shouf district.
Bisri means the structure of God Sirs, God of wheat.

This trail is rich in its water streams, pine trees, traverse tall trees, remaining of 3 granite columns at the time of Pharaos from the palace of Cleopatra, roman stairs, kantara bridge, lemon trees, and the lady of Bisri church build in 1252 A.D., and it was renovated at the era of patriarch Awad in 1756 A.D.

This hike is considered moderate and it is suitable for all ages.
We will start from mazraet shouf at an altitude of 618 m, passing through the Roman stairs where we can see the amazing views of bkassine and Jezzine mountains covered by pine trees.
After taking photos for this magnificent valley, we will take a downhill crossing the valley through orchards, pine forest, tall trees, and the river bank until we reach the granite columns.
We will take our lunch for 20 mins, and then we will continue our hike by taking an uphill heading to mazraet shouf where the bus will be waiting for us.

Meeting point: behind DHL - Jal el dib facing the Canadian embassy ( we can pick our hikers that live on our way)

Hiking distance: 13 kms (level 5.5 moderate)

Total hiking duration: 4:30 hrs

Moving time: 5 hrs

Required materials: jacket to keep warm, hiking boots, backpack, hat, 2L of water, raincoat, sunglasses, sunscreen, healthy snacks, hat.

Fees: 35000 LBP (including transportation, guidance, 5 mins warming up, stretching, but does not include medical insurance)
