Balou3 Bal3a - Douma - Tannourine District

Dear hikers and friends,

Don't think twice what to do on the 20th of May. Our hike will take place on the slopes of Tannourine mountains, where you will have the opportunity to see one of the most beautiful natural monuments and one of the most beautiful and old villages in Lebanon in one single trip.

So be ready my friends.

Douma is a Lebanese village located at an altitude of 1000 m and is 80 km from Beirut. It is a part of Batroun District. If u look to Douma from up above, almost all its houses are made of red brick.

The Village of Balaa (bordering Laqlouq) is known for its deep natural sink hole, "Balou3 Bal3a". A 300 meter walk brings you to a dizzying open cavern some 250 meters deep. Three natural bridges - of which the middle one is the most spectacular.

After visiting Balou3 Baatara(Balaa), the beginning of the trail will be hard, where we will go an uphill (1000 meters up) to reach the top of the mountain that overlooks Douma village.
From there, it is very easy to arrive to the village. The trail will pass through " Sikket el Sham" meaning the ancient road that used to join Tripoli, Douma, Baalbeck, and Damascus. 
The hike will end Douma, where we will visit the ancient streets of Douma.

Meeting point: behind DHL - Jal el dib facing the Canadian embassy ( we can pick our hikers that live on our way)

Departure: 8:00 am

Hiking distance: 10 kms (level 6/10)

Total hiking duration: 4 hrs

Moving time: 3 hrs

Required materials: jacket to keep warm, hiking boots, backpack, hat, 2L of water, raincoat, sunglasses, sunscreen, healthy snacks, hat, gloves.

Fees: 40000 LBP (including transportation, guidance, entrance to the Balou3 Balaa, 5 mins warming up, stretching, but does not include medical insurance)
