In With The New

IN WITH THE NEW, brings together twelve artists working across painting and sculpture whose practices are helping define the current climate of the contemporary art market. The artists serve as taste-makers in the industry, introducing new modes of work and new ways of conceptualization into the market.
They embrace amalgamation of a modern art discourse, working without boundaries or a set of supposed rules. Abstraction, figuration, materiality and readdressed modes of centuries-old art making all take center stage in the group of work on view. Many pieces defy categorical restraints, combining painterly components with sculptural elements to create new visual languages. The featured artists are based across New York and Los Angeles.
Evidence of both these cities’ influence is apparent through small stylistic indicators and a sense of belonging. The works in the exhibition reference art historical movements such as still-life portraiture, geometrical abstraction, figuration, abstract expressionism, and more. Modern twists are added to these genres, both challenging and embracing their predecessors. Using painting, drawing, and sculpture as their chosen mediums, these artists explore contemporary culture in inspiring ways. Their works pulse with life in their examinations of diverse art forms.
