The Shouf Cedar Reserve Comes Alive with the sounds of the “Randonnée Musicale”The Shouf Cedar Reserve Comes Alive with the sounds of the "Randonnée Musicale".
Under the High Patronage of the Minister of Culture H.E. Mr. Gaby Layoun and in partnership with Al
Shouf Cedar Natural Reserve, the events organizing company "O de Rose" is proud to present the
second edition of the "Randonnée Musicale", a musical fundraising event in support of two associations
"CHANCE (Children Against Cancer) and "Offre Joie (Farah el Ataa'), in the Shouf Cedar Natural Reserve
(Maasser el Shouf village entrance) on Sunday, August 25
13 Lebanese bands, musicians and poets spread out over 7 different stations inside the Reserve,
enchanting visitors from all ages, offering them a unique experience, where acoustic music embraced
the breathtaking natural setting all put together for a good a cause. From Pop, Rock, Folk, children
oriental choirs, West African percussions, Flamenco to Classical music lovers, the "Randonnée Musicale"
organizers wished this year to cater to all tastes and genres, dazzling audiences with mind blowing
performances by well-established and young rising Lebanese artists and bands. Hikers went from one
station to the other, guided by the enchanting melodies and sounds they could hear from afar, discovering
many new and original talents and enjoying an unforgettable experience in one of Lebanon's most
pristine and well-preserved areas.
As part of this all-day long musical event, a traditional local food fair was provided by the Maasser el
Shouf municipality. The internationally acclaimed Lebanese Canadian jazz singer Randa Ghossoub
together with her Italian pianist Giovanni Ceccarelli (famous Italian pianist known best for playing Bossa
Nova melodies) offered a live performance at the Auberge Saint-Michel -Arcenciel in Maasser el Shouf
village at 18:00 PM. Mrs. Ghossoub sang a new repertoire that includes a bouquet of standards mixed
with French and Spanish songs wowing the audience with her velvet and sensual voice.
Ms. Lara Kanso (owner of O de Rose) and Mr. Raja Abdallah (organizing partner and behind the
"Randonnée Musicale" concept inspired swiss festival) who despite the instability and difficulties they
faced to organize the event this year reassured that "through events such as the "Randonnée Musicale",
where music and nature are celebrated, our aim is not only to support two NGOs namely CHANCE &
OFFRE JOIE, who defend causes that are very dear to our hearts but also to strongly condemn the
violence that is tearing apart our beloved country. That is exactly why we insisted on repeating the
successful experience of the "Randonnée Musicale" which first edition took place in 2011 also at the
Shouf Cedar Natural Reserve, attracting back then around 1000 visitors".
