Jeunesse Musicales Libanaises
The Jeunesse Musicales Libanaises ( JML ) in collaboration with the Choregies d'Orange, are organizing on the 16th of December 2013 at Casino du Liban an exceptional lyrical concert in commemoration of Verdi's birth bicentenary.
It is under the direction of the great conductor Roberto Rizzio - Brignoli that will meet on stage the soprano Sonya Yoncheva, the baritone Vittorio Vitelli and the tenor Massimo Giordano accompanied by the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra for a prestigious program of airs and duets .
The Jeunesse Musicales Libanaises, founded in February 1956, has observed a meteoric rise in the same year, becoming a member of the Executive Committee of the International Festival of Baalbek. It was also subject to a quick affiliation to the Jeunesses Musicales Internationales, the largest youth cultural organization in the world according to UNESCO. It is in view of facilitating learning music at an early age and also to put Lebanon on the global cultural scene that the Musical Youth Orchestra of Lebanon was created. With a core of professional musicians and teachers, it provides a structure to accommodate the different instrumentalists who can now evolve between amateurs, professionals or with foreign confirmed artists.
Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, has worked many years at La Scala before becoming head of music services at the prestigious house until 2002. The conductor has led in his career the Arena di Verona Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Rome and Gênes and the Chamber Orchestra of La Scala. He made his debut at the Met in 2011 with La Bohème.
Sonya Yoncheva is the winner of Operalia in 2010. She also won the 1st prize in numerous competitions in her native country (Bulgaria). She collaborated with many artists from different backgrounds, opera, film industry and rock music: Sting, Placido Domingo, Elvis Costello, Emmanuelle Haim, all in the most amazing venues such as the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Opera de Paris.
Baritone Vittorio Vitelli made his first steps into the world of opera at an early age. He won the Operalia competition organized by Placido Domingo in 1996. He later specialized in Verdi roles, Rigoletto, Simon Boccanegra ... He made his debut at La Scala in 2006 in the role of Amonasro
Massimo Giordano is one of the most iconic singers of the bel canto repertoire. His warm tone and expressive singing launched him in his favorite role of Don Jose in Carmen on the biggest stages in the world. He has worked with big names like Anna Netrebko, Elina Garanca or Susan Graham.
