    Loving and being loved are one of the most satisfying emotions one can experience, and for a relationship to work it requires effort and going the extra mile to ensure that both sides of the party feel loved and understood. Therefore we rounded up some helpful tips that can be considered as a daily reminder for a healthy and loving relationship.

     

    Communication is a key factor in a relationship. You know the saying "never go to bed angry"? This means that issues should be resolved by communicating in order to avoid them being festered into much larger problems. Whether you are paranoid about a certain matter, disappointed in the way a situation turned out, or sad about a problem that occurred to you during your day, is it important that you share these feelings with your partner. Do you know what else communication helps with? It rules out irrelevant previous arguments because those ideally would have been dealt with. How's that for a two for one?

     

     

    Independence is sometimes overlooked as the more known dependence takes center stage. If you are a couple it does not at all mean that every minute of every day must be spent together. In fact it is the total opposite; both sides need to be able to practice their hobbies, have their own friends, and take some time off for a girls/guys night out. This only strengthens the bond where each person has new stories to tell upon meeting, maintains a little mystery and also has some room to breathe and focus on themselves as an independent being.

     

     

    Acknowledgment is when you value your partner's effort, it means being grateful in all aspects. Is your partner your spouse? Then make sure to thank their hard work to provide for the family or for taking care of the household and children. Is your partner your boyfriend or fiancé? Thank them for making the effort to care for you, for hearing you out and for coming up with creative date ideas to keep the fun in the relationship. A little thanks goes a long way and when both parties feel appreciated and valued, they are less likely to look for emotional gratification elsewhere.

     

     

    Accept that your partner was raised in a family that has its own set of values, has experienced perhaps different events in their lifetime that led them to become the adult they are now. Therefore it is essential to respect this as well as their family and their habits, and remember that being in a relationship means loving the other person as they are and not trying to change them into something they are not.

     

     

    Honesty is the best policy, so even if one person did something that is regarded as bad or hurtful to the other, it is always better to confess than to have the latter become insecure. Sometimes things that seem malicious on the surface actually have innocent explanations, so being honest and open will help you avoid a dramatic situation. When lying starts, it is downhill from there as each movement will render suspicion, and this is the last thing one wants in a relationship.

     

     

    While no relationship is perfect and all couples go through rough patches and arguments, it doesn't undermine the love they have for one another. We are humans with emotions and mood swings, but putting in effort to constantly remind the other person that they are loved helps a smooth sailing.
