Oprah Winfrey is officially a "senior citizen."
The longtime queen of talk - and let's be honest, pretty much everything - was born on Jan. 29, 1954, in the rural town of Kosciusko, Mississippi.
She's often shared her tales of enduring a childhood marked by pain and struggle, but persevered to become an aspirational American example of self-made success, fame and astronomical wealth.
However, on the occasion of her 65th birthday, we've come to realize Oprah's infamous"favorite things" were not our favorite - her affirmations were.
Sure, we might have chuckled at the touchy-feely self-help hoariness of it all back in the day. But in the warm glow of nostalgia, we're taking a fond look back at some of the most memorable soundbites from the phenomenal woman who once said, "Turn your wounds into wisdom."
Oprah on personal fulfillment
"When you undervalue what you do, the world will undervalue who you are."
"Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody's going to know whether you did it or not."
"Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."
"The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate."
"The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but on significance - and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning."
Oprah on friendship
"Everyone wants to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down."
"One of the hardest things in life to learn are which bridges to cross and which bridges to burn."
Oprah on courage
"The thing you fear most has no power. Your fear of it is what has the power. Facing the truth really will set you free."
"The great courageous act that we must all do, is to have the courage to step out of our history and past so that we can live our dreams."
"You get in life what you have the courage to ask for."
Oprah on love
"If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away. If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay."
Oprah on forgiveness
"Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could have been any different."
"True forgiveness is when you can say, 'Thank you for that experience.'"
"I would like to thank the people who've brought me those dark moments, when I felt most wounded, betrayed. You have been my greatest teachers."
Oprah on believing in yourself
"Self-esteem comes from being able to define the world in your own terms and refusing to abide by the judgments of others."
"So go ahead. Fall down. The world looks different from the ground."
"It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from. The ability to triumph begins with you - always."
"You don't become what you want, you become what you believe."
