The ministry of Communications decided to add fees on internet-based calls over Whatsapp.
Here are all the details:
- The government will charge every user 20 cents on the first call he/she makes per day. Every call aftermath will be free of charge. They will be able to do so, using a new technology that will allow them to detect if the call was made using "Signal" or "Data".
- The calls using mobile data will charged whereas calls over Wi-Fi will be free of charge because the government will need a different type of detection systems to track each user's data consumption from Ogero.
- This new law will be applicable starting January 2020
