As part of its mission to heal with compassion and its constant pursuit to always provide its patients with the latest advances and technologies in the world of medicine, and with the best health and medical services, the LAU Medical Center- Rizk Hospital Ophthalmology department is proud to announce  that it has performed yesterday and for the first time in Lebanon a one of a kind eye procedure.

The procedure performed by Dr. Roland Seif, faculty member at the LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine, consisted of placing the first iStent inject® device for the treatment of glaucoma which was very successful.

iStent inject® includes two tiny implants, which are the world's smallest medical devices known to be implanted in the human body. 

Implanted during the cataract surgery, iStent inject® helps to restore the natural fluid flow on the patient eye and safely lowers the eye pressure, one of the most important risk factors of glaucoma, which may eventually reduce patient's reliance on glaucoma medication.
