Following a pilot test launched in March 2013, Touch made available to the public its 4G LTE service providing more than 7 times higher speed for data transfer comparing to the 3G service. Touch's 4G LTE data service provides top speeds around 150 MBPS in theory and can be used for browsing the internet, streaming High Definition videos, sending emails or downloading files on the go. This service is now available on dongles, tablets, routers and MIFI and will support voice calls and sms on mobile phones at a later stage.
"Touch's 4G LTE service is already live with more than 60 sites covering most of Beirut areas, ensuring thus the widest coverage in the country" stated Nadim Khater, CCO at touch, the leading mobile operator in Lebanon, managed by Zain Group. The 4G LTE network will cover 80% of Beirut in a short period of time followed by a full coverage of the Lebanese capital by the end of 2013 before expanding to other parts of the country in 2014.
Touch is offering 4 new 4G data packages, plus extending 4G to the existing 3G data plans except the $10- 150MB bundle.
