Carlos Slim, a Mexican billionaire of Lebanese descent, listed as one of the richest men in the world, will participate in the reconstruction of the port of Beirut destroyed by the recent explosion.
The news was announced by Amin Seiden Karam, president of the board of directors of the Lebanese Center in the Latin American country, during an interview with the radio station Noticias MVS on August 7.
The fundraising to help Lebanon began even before the tragedy in its capital, according to Karam. He explained that this initiative was organized since the Arab nation is experiencing a serious economic crisis and Mexicans with Lebanese roots decided to collect and send funds to help.
"The campaign seeks to send resources to the Red Cross in Lebanon, there are entrepreneurs looking to rebuild the port of Beirut. Carlos Slim will help with the reconstruction ", he commented.
