If you're unaware, a blue moon refers to there being two full moons within the space of one calendar month. So unlike a blood moon or a super moon, in which the physical appearance of the moon is - or at least appears to be - altered, this just means there will be two full moons in October. The first will fall on the first day of the month, and the second, obviously, on the last.
It means that, in 2020, there will actually be 13 full moons in the calendar year, not the usual 12. And while that sounds like the makings of some terrifying supernatural occurrence - or perhaps even the End Of Days - it likely won't be.
That being said, this being 2020 - and it occurring on Halloween and therefore being extra spooky - who knows what the actual reality of this blue moon might be. Maybe aliens will come visiting. Perhaps those fabled murder hornets will finally start attacking the planet.
Or maybe the world will just carry on as usual and it'll be really cloudy and we won't even notice that there's a full moon in the sky. That would be kind of sad, though - full moons are beautiful.
