Touch, the leading mobile operator managed by Zain, took part in the "World No Tobacco Day" observed around the world, every year on May 31st, to encourage a 24-hour period of abstinence from all forms of tobacco consumption.
On this occasion, touch launched an initiative targeting both employees and customers visiting touch premises and service centers; special boxes were placed inciting customers and visitors to get rid of their cigarette boxes prior to leaving the company premises. Touch has been a pioneer in setting an internal non-smoking policy since 2004, 8 years prior to enforcing the Lebanese non-smoking law in public places.
Corporate Communications and Relations Manager at touch, Ghada Barakat, confirmed that "this initiative is aligned with other sustainable and coherent social plans and measures led by touch, such as the "Don't text & Drive" initiative targeting pedestrian and drivers safety launched in June during the "Second United Nations Global Road Safety Week".
