Samsung adds another model to its Galaxy S20 line with the S20 Fan Edition (FE) 5G, packing similar hardware at a more affordable price and a range of new colours.
The S20 FE’s 6.5in flat FHD+ Infinity-O display (1,080 x 2,400 resolution) falls in between the S20’s 6.2in and S20+’s 6.7in displays in terms of size and has a similar Super AMOLED screen, which boasts a 120Hz refresh rate for a more enjoyable gaming and video experience.
“The S20 FE is an extension of the Galaxy S20 family and is the start of a new way to bring meaningful innovation to even more people to let them do the things they love with the best of Galaxy,” said Samsung Electronics president and head of mobile communications business Dr T.M. Roh, in a press release.
The S20 FE packs three cameras on its rear, including a 12-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel ultra wide camera and 8-megapixel telephoto camera. It also has a 32-megapixel front facing camera.
Like the rest of the S20 line, this model boasts a larger image sensor than previous generations, which allows it to take more vibrant photos even in low light, according to Samsung.
To get closer to your subject, the S20 FE has up to 30X Super Resolution Zoom, which claims to combine optical and digital zoom, plus backend processing for clearer shots even from a distance.
Samsung says this model can power through a full day’s work, with a large 4,500mAH battery that is quick to recharge with its Super Fast charging feature.
As the name suggests, this Android 10 model is 5G capable and is powered by a 64-bit octa-core processor with 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard memory, plus expandable memory using a microSD card (up to 1TB) via its hybrid SIM slot.
The new model’s chassis has a plastic back and aluminium frame, which comes with a textured haze effect that minimises fingerprints and smudges.
It comes in six vibrant colours including Cloud Red, Cloud Orange, Cloud Lavender, Cloud Mint, Cloud Navy and Cloud White.
