The amazing Scottish band Snow Patrol performed on the 17th of July what turned out to be the best decent rock concert for this year in Lebanon!
"Shukran! It's our first time in Lebanon, and we weren't expecting to see thousands of people," said the lead singer of the band, Gary Lightbody.
Those were his first words that we all expect to hear from all the bands and stars that come to Lebanon. However, it was later when he made all of us burst into tears when he talked about his first experience in Lebanon.
"I was buying some souvenirs for my family from a small shop here in Byblos while the owner was having lunch. He told me that he is going to make me a good price, and then asked me to sit down and join him for lunch! I've traveled all around the world; Germany, France, U.K... This has never happened there! This only happens here in Lebanon!" he said.
He proceeded by saying that the Lebanese own the word hospitality, and that he's been received and taken care of very well by assuring the crowd that Snow Patrol will be back to Lebanon soon.
He debuted his encore of the concert by the song "Lifening" that he always dedicates for his father who is the most important person in his life as he said. However, the audience got really emotional when he said that this time he's going to dedicate it for us, the Lebanese. "This is how important you are to me!"
Lightbody's sense of humor was extremely smooth and sweet throughout the whole show. He also dedicated another song for the Lebanese during the concert which was "Run" since he urged us to run away from all the heat and the high temperature we were experiencing that night. Apparently, Snow Patrol are not used to such kind of weather. His most comic pun was:
"I've never been in any hotter place than here! Seriously, can you all blow on my guitar? It has become so hot," he said.
Snow Patrol performed all the hits that their fans were excitedly waiting for like: "Chasing Cars", "You're All I Have", "In the End", "Called Out in the Dark", and then ended his encore with "Just Say Yes".
This concert have not only met the people's expectations but also, was beyond epic! Seldom do we have such level of decency in our events' quality. The sound and visuals were great, the place though not the biggest place in Lebanon, still was very well organized. But really what made all the people enjoy it was the warmhearted spirit all around.
