Chloé brings the past back to life in Beirut Souks

    07 june 2013

The Chloé boutique in the Beirut Souks was transformed into a living fashion museum on Wednesday, June 5th, with an exhibit of some of the French fashion house's most fascinating vintage pieces.

Items on display inside the boutique included one piece from the '60s designed by brand founder Gaby Aghion herself, as well as many classics from the '80s created by Karl Lagerfeld, including his famous violon dress and the arrow dress that was restyled and resurrected by Chloé's current creative director, Clare Waight Keller, for spring/summer 2013.

Just outside the boutique, a photo display highlighted Lagerfeld's intricate sketches, the various trunk shows staged by Chloé over the years, portraits and sayings of Aghion and even drawings from the late '50s and early '60s by former designer Gérard Pipart.

Beirut's fashion-forward crowd was in attendance, both to view the current Chloé collection, as well as to get a special sneak preview of the pre-fall 2013 collection. This marked the first time that Chloé's upcoming pre-fall range was shown in the Middle East.

As guests spilled out from the boutique onto the Beirut Souks' wide pedestrian plaza, while local DJ Caline Chidiac spun her trademark tunes, it felt as if the Parisian spirit of Chloé had found a new home among the shiny streets of Downtown Beirut.
