WhatsApp will soon display an in-app banner that will seek to address users’ concerns on a controversial privacy policy and start nudging them to accept the update before the rollout begins on May 15 globally.
WhatsApp said in a blog post that it is building new ways to chat or shop with a business on the app—a feature that is optional. Personal messages will always be end-to-end encrypted, so it will not be able to read or listen to them. It does not keep a log on who everyone is messaging or calling, and it does share users’ contacts with Facebook.
