A property expert has shared some simple tricks to help cool your house down when it's hot, from how best to cook meals without getting too sweaty through to hacks that will make you have a better night's sleep. Watch and learn below:
That Property Guy (@thatpropertyguy) shares TikTok videos on 'all things property', including one recent post about 'ways to stay cool' this summer.
In the clip shared last month, which has 2.3 million views, he says: "I don't know about you but I'm starting to struggle with this heat, so here are some easy ways to keep your house cool."
He goes on to suggest a number of ways that might help, starting with shutting your windows, blinds and curtains during the day.
He explains: "It might sound daft, but keep your windows shut and draw your curtains. During the day, this will keep the hot air out.
"And then you're going to want to circulate cool air inside the house, so fill up some bowls with water and some ice.
"Bowls of water will cool down the house, especially if you use a fan."
However, if you have to have the windows open, there's also a way of doing so that will apparently minimise heat.
"If you have to open the windows, open a couple at either ends of the house and this creates a through-draft," he advises.
"Open loft windows as well."
While many of you may stick to salads and other simple dishes when the temperatures rise, there's also a way of cooking that won't get you too flustered.
That Property Guy says: "As ovens create heat, try and do your cooking outside - best to use a barbeque if you can."
