L'Oréal Liban just celebrated the 12 th anniversary of Citizen Day, a global social
engagement-volunteering day that the Group offers to all its employees in more than 65 countries where it operates.
Every year for the past 12 years, L'Oréal employees have been dedicating an entire day of their work time to bringing
their skills and energy to hundreds of social and environmental organisations.
On Friday 17 September, L’Oréal Liban team united its force, energy, and enthusiasm to support Farah Social
Foundation, a local NGO who, since 1988, has been working to eradicate poverty and empower individuals to
participate in the development of themselves and their communities.
“The non-profit organizations have been seriously affected by the crisis, more than ever, they’re counting on our
mobilization, said Emilie Wahab Harb, Managing Director of L’Oreal Liban. "I am proud to see the passion of our
employees and their commitment to giving back, not just on this annual day of service but all year-round." I sincerely
believe that participating in the well-being of the local community is a way to share our success.”
More than 70 employees took part this year edition to brighten up the daily life of the NGO’s beneficiaries!
In order to allow employees to get involved according to their preferences, several activities were organised! While
some support small-scale farmers in apple harvesting, other group of employees spent the day in the kitchen of Farah
Social Foundation, preparing some mouneh products such as tomato paste and apple jam with women from the Chouf
district.
Another group of employees was busy all day in sorting and packing boxes filled with food and hygiene products
donated by L’Oreal, that will be delivered to families in need across Lebanon.
Employees who preferred to engage with children with special needs, spent their day, in arts & crafts workshops at the
National Rehabilitation and Development Center – Technical Institute (NRDC- IT) where they produced soap, mosaic
goods, and baskets that will be then sold by the NGO.
Contributing to the development of community on a social and economic level would not have been possible without
the support, altruism, and participation of the growing number of Farah Social Foundation friends, such as L'Oréal
Liban", says Feryal Moghrabi, Project Manager of Farah Social Foundation . "L’Oreal Citizen Day was a unique
and enjoyable teamwork experience that pushes us to thrive further and assert our mission”
A lunch has been organized to follow the activities in honour of L’Oréal’s employees to thank them for their
participation and for their efforts and to incentivise them to pursue such initiatives!
