Beity Association’s one-year program from July 2021-June 2022; aims to involve women from the regions affected by the Beirut 2020 blast (Rmeil, Mdawar), in the improvement of public services through social accountability using the community score cards (CSC) tool applied with 3 public service providers (Beirut port civil defense, Beirut Municipality and Gemmayze and al naher police stations) who were mobilized during the disaster.
The project will enhance the trained women’s participation in participatory governance process through social accountability to prevent conflict, improve respond to crises and emergencies alongside peacebuilding among Lebanese local communities and public service providers in the main areas affected by Beirut 2020 blast
The Project’s goal will be attained through empowering 25 participating women in 6 partners local NGOs, building their capabilities and apply community score cards (CSC) tool to get a participatory improvement plans between community and service providers in order to meet some of community challenges and improve disaster management services.
The project will end with the implementation of up to 3 initiatives with the service providers and local community women to improve some points based on the participatory improvement plans.
The project will include several activities, which are:
· Preparing a baseline study on disaster management and providers, and the problems faced by all concerned parties in Beirut
· Conducting about 5 training courses on (social accountability, community score cards tool, the art of communication and facilitation, and on disaster management) for the 25 women from 6 partner NGOs that worked to revitalize Beirut
· Implementation of the community score cards tool with service providers and the women service recipients in the regions of Rmeil and Mdawar, through several meetings, assessment and focus group sessions, either individually for each group or jointly between all parties, in order to get 3 joint plans to improve the disaster management service in Beirut with the concerned entities mentioned in the project
· Forming follow-up committees from all parties involved in the project and developing a plan to implement and follow up on the implementation of the initiatives resulting from improvement plans
· Finally, about 3 initiatives will be implemented with each of the service providers that participated in the project in cooperation with civil society especially women.
