    13 may 2025

The President of the Beirut Bar Association Me Fadi Masri announced the launch of the inaugural edition of Beirut Arbitration Daysorganized by the Lebanese & International Arbitration Center at the Beirut Bar Association (LIACBBA) which will be held at the Maison de l’Avocat from 20 to 22 May 2025.

During the announcement, Me Fadi Masri remarkedthat the launch of “Beirut Arbitration Days” marks a pivotal milestone in Lebanon’s ongoing recovery and embodies the Bar Association’s commitment to strengthening the culture of arbitration in the region.

Professor Najib HageChahine, Director of LIACBBA and the driving force behind the event, stated that Beirut Arbitration Days is more than just another legal conference; it represents a decisive step toward reestablishing Beirut as a leading regional hub for arbitration and dispute resolution. Beirut, historically revered as the “Mother of Laws,” is thus reclaiming its rightful place on the international stage.

The organizers expect to welcome over one thousand participants from more than forty countries. More than sixty Lebanese and international speakers will contribute to the event, supported by over forty organizations. The initiative also enjoys robust academic backing from leading Lebanese universities – including the Lebanese American University (LAU), Saint Joseph University (USJ), La Sagesse University, Beirut Arab University and the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) – alongside institutional support from arbitration centres in Jordan, Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Turkey. Sessions will be held in Grand Auditorium of Maison de l’Avocat, enhancing Lebanon’s business climate, attracting investment and broadening the region’s legal expertise network.

The programme features an official presentation of the new LIACBBA Arbitration Rules, discussions on conflicts of interest, damages and crossexamination, and a dedicated session on the interaction between the judiciary and arbitration and the role of regional centres. Other highlights include panels on artificial intelligence, energy disputes in times of conflict, a mock arbitration hearing, specialised workshops and extensive networking opportunities.

The opening keynote will be delivered by H. E. Prime Minister, Judge Nawaf Salam. Government ministers, the President of the Beirut Bar Association, heads of regional arbitration centres, academics, judges and experts from leading global firms—among them White & Case, Reed Smith, Bird & Bird and Mayer Brown—will also participate.

In keeping with LIACBBA’s commitment to the next generation, complimentary seats have been reserved for law students and trainees, together with a mentoring track that allows them to attend sessions and meet experts, thereby strengthening arbitration culture among young Lebanese practitioners.

Attendance is free of charge, subject to seat availability, and registration is open at www.beirutarbitration.com.
