Solidere launched this Wednesday August 14th, at 7 PM, the "I & I = Us" exhibition by the Spanish artist Ana Corbero. This new artistic showcase is hosted at the Beirut Exhibition Centre and will last until the 1st of September 2013. The opening of the exhibition was witnessed by a crowd of art figures as well as a select number of socio-cultural personalities along media representatives.
The exhibition includes many paintings and sculptures, in addition to a huge catalogue. The artist aims through this event to expose the premises of her desires to her dear friend, the city of Beirut -where she lived for 13 years. "I & I = Us" was meant to be a great celebration of her love link to Lebanon.
One of the elements that distinguish the exhibition is the music created for it. Corbero may have been prescient indeed in asking her musical friends to set poems to music. Thus was born the music for I & I= Us, constituting a fabulous collection created by various artists from different parts of the world, all with very different styles and belonging to different genres: Boogie Woogie, Flamenco, classical Arabic, Electronic Rock, Indie Pop and Modern Opera.
Two international artists close to Corbero, Gustavo Thomas- Kastorina and Sara Serhindi will give a dance performance during the opening ceremony to the music interpreting a poem for Corbero.
In this line, Nicola Veron says: "The truth is in this world is closeness. Corbero helps us realize that this truth that lies in us, we creatures of God. Her poems, paintings, sculptures remind us that getting back to awareness and awakening is the solution. We better listen."
It's worth to note, that the proceeds of the exhibition's CD will be donated to the UN's World Food Program in Lebanon.
