Creamfields Beirut Cancellation Press Conference Speech

    07 september 2013

To all the followers of the Creamfield's Beirut 2013 festival,

The past few weeks have been some of the most tiresome and challenging weeks in both the political and security assurance sectors.

The disturbances of the neighboring countries are causing western government bodies to force caution and extreme awareness to their citizens traveling within the Middle East region.

Such extreme awareness is influencing citizens to feel un-easy but also doubting the security system and local law enforcement of the Lebanon nation.

With these cautions in mind, we at JK58 took further action to gain the support of the local law and military enforcements including direct support from the Lebanese ministry of Tourism and other Foreign affairs officers through the safety and event management strategies standardized to the European event standards.

The JK58 production team have met and briefed with the local community and controlling area authorities to increase security measures to ensure that all patrons participating at the Creamfield's Beirut event would feel the same secure comfort of attending a European Music Festival hosted event.

Even with these extended lengths of security precautions, the controlling entity of Foreign Party, have decided to pull out.

With this action, this causes a domino effect where by the performing artists too would follow suit being influenced with this decision.

Some performing artists would still announce that they would endeavor the experience and extend their support; however to protect the interests of future affairs and potential relationships with festival organizers, these artists are following their best intentions.

We at JK58 are devastated by the news and the conclusion of these negotiations. Our site, as you see in the background behind us, is more than 80% prepared and ready for an event.

This action in turn causes us to do one thing and one thing alone.

We regret to inform that the Creamfield's Beirut 2013 festival, a festival of which our whole team have put long hours, blood sweat and tears towards will no longer be going ahead.

All the patrons who have pre-purchased their tickets may collect a reimbursement from the outlet that they purchased their tickets.

We will continue to work with foreign festival organizers to look for a future possibility of hosting a similar event within Lebanon community, however at this present time we are unable to agree to a time, or date, of when, or if, this may occur.

For now we look for your support and prays to the communities affected by the bordering devastation. We will prevail in the end to host an event in the near future to rejoice and bring peace to the Middle East.

Thank you for your time and understanding, and may the future bring hope and joy.

    Jean-Carl Saliba
