    24 october 2013

MINI Cabrio has made its star appearance this year celebrating the International Day of Peace during a series of activities which commenced on 12th September in Beirut, Lebanon. The small car with substance in abundance kicked off the International Peace day parading the Lebanese flag as well as the flag of peace. With all the flair and refreshment of driving in the open air, the MINI Cabrio used its very best performance, looks and versatility to support this cause and wish the world a happy Peace Day!

Established in 1981by the United Nations General Assembly, the International Day of Peace is celebrated annually around the world on 21st September. The General Assembly chose the day to strengthen the principles of peace, both within and among all nations and people.

The International Peace Day program in Lebanon included multiple activities including a press conference held on 12th September where the Vice President of Al Waleed Bin Talal Humanitarian Foundation and former Lebanese Minister of Industry, Leila El Solh, appointed Maxim Chaya, the first Lebanese individual to climb Mount Everest as the "Man of the Year of Peace" in Lebanon for 2013.

The program also included the artistic inauguration of the Zaitunay Bay Exhibition featuring 45 talented painters, sculptors and interior architects who worked live from 19th to 22nd September across three competition tables: painting, sculpting and interior architecture. Natalie Jebeili was announced as the winner of the painting competition, while Nicole Fattouh won the first place in the sculpture competition and Christelle Nehme took home top honours in the interior architecture competition.

Four Karting races were also organised on 21st September: the "Bradley Ladies" race for women which was won by Nayla Chkaibane, "Former Rally Drivers" race won by Nagy Heneine, the "Women's Media" race won by Dina Nasr of Pikasso concluding with the "Men's Media" race which was won by Karim Fakhry.

Nagy Heneine, General Manager for Commercial Affairs at Bassoul-Heneine Sal said: "We are proud that our MINI Cabrio has participated in this stellar event and wish all nations peace and harmony. We congratulate Nabil J. Tabet, CEO of Bee Events & PR, for organising the karting competitions and showing us how this cause can be both fun and meaningful."

"We were also pleased with the creative approach of the three art winners, Nathalie, Nicole and Christelle and are certain that this will push the message of peace on a regional level. This fun event embodies the spirit of MINI, and this is why we chose our MINI Cabrio to be a part of this celebration."
