This year, Zaitunay Bay and Matisse Events celebrate Christmas with and for the less fortunate children. Realizing the importance of Lebanon's youth, who are also its future, and the limited efforts done to reach out to them, the two entities have decided to give a helping hand to children in need. The initiative is meant to stray away from the commercial nature of all Christmas celebrations in town, and go back to the roots of this important holiday, sending a message of peace, love and hope.
Created and organized by Matisse Events, the "Field of Stars" which will be held at Zaitunay Bay, is a new and unique way of celebrating Christmas in the spirit of solidarity and unity for one worthy cause. It combines form and function, bringing to Zaitunay Bay, a mesmerizing field of illuminated stars, each of which can be purchased at the cost of $1000 by anyone who wishes to contribute to the cause. All funds collected will be divided equally and distributed to 24 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and charities that help children in various ways.
The stars are one meter wide and vary in height, offering a splendid display visible to all passing cars and people on the main road from November 18 until January 7. A name tag near each star will display the contributor's name, unless the individual or company chooses to remain anonymous.
To pay tribute to this exceptional initiative, a gala reception will be held at Zaitunay Bay in December to thank all of those who took part in it and to give them a chance to meet the people from the NGOs, as well as some of the children whose lives have been touched by the Field of Stars.
A bank account, audited by Philippe Rayes & Associates, is available at Bank Audi for all donations and will remain open until December 18, 2013, the last day for star sales.
