KA Modern &Contemporary Art Space is a private collection of contemporary and modern art set to open to the public in January 2014. The dedicated pioneers behind this collection believe that in the absence of a Modern Art Museum, Lebanese art should be shared with the public. Located at the Residence Marina Bay in Dbayeh, this unique collection features around 100 local, Middle Eastern, and international artists, and beautifully encompasses an array of visual arts, which will offer a dynamic and thought-provoking artistic experience to all visitors.
A part of Lebanon's culture is its artists who are too often over shadowed by the country's many other attributes. By giving the public access to their art space, initiators Abraham Karabajakian and Roger Akoury hope to make Lebanese art an integral part of this country's culture for both locals and foreigners.
Paul Guiragossian, Saliba Douaihy, Shafic Abboud and Aref el Rayess are only a few of the internationally renowned Lebanese artists featured at KA Modern & Contemporary Art Space. Their works have often been displayed internationally, but not enough here in Lebanon. As art enthusiasts, the KA Collection Founders have brought together these incredible pieces to give all people, young and old, an enriching experience and acknowledgement of Lebanese art.
Abraham Karabajakian, co-founder of KA Modern & Contemporary Art Space said, "We are opening our doors to the public for art's sake. Since one cannot love what one cannot see, we believe these beautiful pieces are meant to be shared, not hidden and buried. This is the most important way to develop a sense of pride and unity towards our Lebanese identity." He continues, "Roger and I have spent years researching Lebanese Masterpieces that were disseminated in different parts of the world to bring them back home to Lebanon and expose them to a wider Lebanese as well as international audience. We only hope our art space serves as a unique resource for the Lebanese community."
The two partners consider every piece a unique work of art created to engage and impassion all who visit. With their unswerving passion and dedication to collecting artwork, they are sure to make KA Modern & Contemporary Art Space a great addition to Lebanon's cultural experience. The art space will welcome all art enthusiasts who want to embrace the beauties of Lebanese and Middle Eastern art.
Starting January 4th 2014, KA Modern & Contemporary Art Space will be open free of charge to the public on Saturdays from 11am to 6pm.
