Bellevue Medical Center (BMC) is delighted to announce that it is launching a series of charity and fundraising events to celebrate Christmas. The hospital's newly founded committee on social affairs decided to hold the events in a great effort to raise funds for future needy patients, and to assist NGOs in the community. This year, "Association du Foyer de l'Enfant Libanais" (AFEL) in Sin-El-Fil, a non-profit organization that works with children who are orphaned, mistreated, and with learning disabilities was chosen.
In order to unify efforts and to encourage the involvement of the widest possible scope of volunteers within or outside the hospital wishing to participate to raise funds, the committee devised a wide selection of interactive activities to take place throughout the month of December.
Following its success from last year, BMC is having another bake sale featuring lots of cakes and sweets, and experience has shown that the staff has an undeniable talent for cooking up these delicious treats.
The festivities continue with a special Christmas concert to be held in the courtyard of the hospital on December 13 in order for everyone to join in on the atmosphere of joy and the spirit of love, which is the message that this holiday brings every year. It is also an opportunity for the staff and doctors to show off their vocal talent and join in on Christmas caroling. After the concert, a draw will be held for prizes offered by many contributors and partners in return for the "Tombola" cards which were sold throughout this month.
And to continue the spread of joy and hope in the hearts of children, members of BMC will visit AFEL to provide lunch, gifts, and games, and will join them all day for hours of fun and entertainment with members of the public encouraged to join in as well. On top of this, BMC is also donating essential supplies to the NGO.
Commenting on the festivities, Dr. Dia Hassan, CEO of BMC, said: "We had such a wonderful time with our bake sale last year, we wanted to make this year even bigger and better. With our newly founded committee for social affairs, BMC is seeking to provide a structure that reaches out to our patients & community, and helping them out as best as we can. We are absolutely thrilled to be helping the children and families of AFEL this year."
The committee also has a clothing drive set up for anyone who wishes to donate clothes in good condition to give to the children and families of AFEL. The committee is accepting monetary donations, which can be given in a donation box located on the ground floor of BMC.
