    14 february 2014

A commemorative plaque was unveiled on Thursday 6 February to mark the end of the rehabilitation of the Oum el Nour center in Fatka, which was completed with the contribution and support of Alfa, managed by Orascom Telecom, and implemented by Power Tech.

The ceremony was attended by Alfa Chairman and CEO, Marwan Hayek, the President of Oum el Nour, Bishop Guy Paul Noujaim, Power Tech Chairman Mr. Nabil Haddad, in addition to Alfa executives, Oum el Nour officials, and media representatives.

    Noujaim
Bishop Guy Paul Noujaim thanked in his name and on behalf of the center's beneficiaries "Alfa for sponsoring the anti-mold works in the center, stressing the importance of everyone's contribution to building a better society for our community."

    Hayek
In his speech, Alfa Chairman and CEO, Marwan Hayek, commended Oum el Nour's great efforts to "help people who have lost their way and to fight the scourge of drugs, which are threatening our communities and our children because of their spread in schools and universities and the presence of people who finance and sponsor their distribution". Hayek declared that this financial assistance provided by Alfa is part of "our belief in our social responsibility and the need to ensure better living conditions for those who need them".

In addition, Hayek pointed out that, along with "traditional addiction, there is today another kind of addiction, particularly among young people, which is the addiction to smartphones." He called for "the rationalization of phone usage so that it does not turn into addiction", promising "to launch awareness campaigns in this regard similar to the campaign "A call is too costly while driving," which called for not using the mobile phone while driving".

Then Hayek thanked Power Tech, and concluded his speech by hoping that "this step will establish a more comprehensive cooperation with Oum el Nour on various levels."

At the end of the ceremony, Bishop Guy Paul Noujaim offered Mr. Marwan Hayek Oum el Nour's honorary shield. Oum el Nour's Vice President, Mr. Gabriel Debbane, also offered an honorary shield to Mr. Nabil Haddad.
