Apple often gets multiple companies to produce its parts, especially screens. So when LG announced it had just begun production of a super thin new screen, it was pretty clear who’d be getting it – the iPhone 5.
We’ve already heard rumours of the iPhone 5 sporting a new thinner 4in display. This uses, deep breath, a LTPS (Low Temperature Polycrystalline silicon) TFT (thin-film-transistor) LCD. That means the layer of glass currently used to separate the LCD and touch parts of the screen is gone. So the new iPhone 5 should be thinner as well as lighter, inspite of making the jump from a 3.5in to a 4in screen.
Expect the iPhone 5 to be on sale from September 21st.
