Save the date, September 12 they say; Clooney and Alamuddin are meant to tie the knot. He is one of Hollywood's hottest bachelors and she is a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers. Clooney was married once to an American actress Talia Balsam; a marriage which lasted for four years, after which all his relationships were on and off and never seriously taken, a matter which drove the media to question his sexuality at some point.
However, on April 22nd, 2014, Clooney proposed to the human rights lawyer and the adviser to former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Amal Alamuddin. Georges kept it simple yet highly romantic; so instead of flying her off to Paris for instance, he headed for his California home, cooked a meal, and went down on one knee to ask for her hand. He even helped design the seven carat emerald cut diamond ring she is currently wearing, but which may cost him nearly £100,000 to be paid to the UK taxman as customs duty and import VAT...
So what happened to the self proclaimed lifetime bachelor who once stated that he would never marry again? Rumors say that she even turned him down three times before agreeing to go out on a first date with him.
She has the full package... Amal is a 36-year-old British beauty of Lebanese origins. The duo actually has plenty of things in common; human rights to name one. This goes back to last September where they first met at a small intimate charity fundraiser. Amal graduated with honors from Oxford University after having won a scholarship and later earned her law degree from NYU. With her wit and prettiness combined, Amal even won over Clooney's parents as they express how thrilled they are regarding this marriage, as she is a wonderful girl.
The wedding celebrations are yet to be declared; George's Lake Como estate would be a beautiful wedding location, but it may not give them the needed privacy, thus ruled out so far. While it will also be an appealing location, Baakline might be ruled out too as the family remains tight-lipped regarding the awaited nuptials. Resources so far say they will wed in London, but if they later decide to choose Lebanon for further celebrations, then the Lebanese are yet to encounter a great event...
