Green & Co was granted the "Distributor of the Year" award by illycaffè during a ceremony held at Ginette on September 6, 2012, and attended by Daria Illy, International Key Account Directorat the Italian coffee company. Green & Co, illycaffè's distributor in Lebanon, was selected amongst other distributors in 140 countries. The award celebrates excellence and dedication and recognizes Green & Co's commitment to maintaining the quality of illycaffè.
"There are 125 quality control checks between the production of the coffee bean and the makingof a cup of an illy espresso. This attention to quality and details is the essence of illy, and can be seen in every step of the process from production to the end consumer," said Daria Illy. "We are very proud to recognize Green & Co's commitment to quality throughout the past 15 years andrightly reward it for its achievements and standards in Lebanon."
The event brought together coffee aficionados, the media, and VIP guests in a joyous celebration. Marc Naman, founder and CEO of Green & Co, explained the secret to theirsuccess, "Making a good espresso is an art. Excellence in distribution means ensuring thatthe quality of the espresso served is impeccable and the machines are well serviced. Mostimportantly, it is about continuously training the baristi in the art of espresso making."
The event's theme revolved around the newly introduced "Live Happilly" concept. A "LiveHappilly" wall of expression allowed people to share precious thoughts with others, andcameramen walked around taking pictures of guests posing in front of illy-inspired backdrops.Guests enjoyed delicious tidbits, upbeat music, and of course, fantastic fresh cocktails preparedby top barmen.
Green & Co's award was well-deserved, having introduced the art and science of espressomaking to the Lebanese market fifteen years ago. In a society with deeply engrained coffeehabits and traditions, introducing Italy's premium coffee was quite a challenge. Nevertheless,Green & Co created and built a strong and efficient distribution network, servicing strategy andbarista training program. The result is evident since more than 3,000,000 cups of illy are servedyearly in top restaurants, hotels and coffee shops across the country.
