The Dubai Design District (d3) hosted a cocktail party on Tuesday June 10th,during Beirut Design Week,to meet Lebanese designers and introduce the d3 concept.The event held at the studio of Roger Moukarzel brought Lebanese designers and design aficionados together to connect and learn more about d3.
Samer Al Ameen, a veteran in the event planning industry,and a product designer himself, flew in especially from Milan to organize and build the installation showcased at the event. The TV antennas spread across Beirut's rooftops inspired Ameen's Tree of Life. The interactive piece functioned as a collaborative canvas, upon which designers at the event could post information about themselves and about their work, The result was a beautiful installation , symbolizing the vibrant interaction between the creative minds of Beirut and d3.
For the first time in Lebanon, more than sixty designer and four hundred of their guests found themselves under a single roof, Speaking to the crowd, Mark Stobbs, the senior marketing manager of d3 , commented :
This collaboration with local creative talents in Beirut , known for its dynamic , flourishing and inspired artists and designer , is part of our unwavering commitment to the successful development of the design , art and fashion industry in the region and an ongoing support for the links between the UAE and Lebanese creative community. We are extremely excited about the opportunity to introduce the d3 concept to Lebanon and being introduced to its talented designers.
The evening's Beirut host Roger Moukarzel celebrated the dynamic between the designers and d3 at the party and emphasized the importance of dialogue and communication among Middle Eastern designers.
