The Lebanese Armed Forces; May God be with you

    08 august 2014

"Honor, Sacrifice, Loyalty," this is the motto of the Lebanese Armed Forces. Our land is swamped with tears; our hearts are filled with grief; and houses are echoed with screams of heartbroken families.

Wives nervously pray for a phone not to ring, or not to hear the name of her martyr husband on the news, yet the phone eventually rings, and they weep as they hold their sons who have just lost a father in a fight against Evil.

Enough! Why are we being attacked by everyone? Why are we the center of attention? When will everyone let us be? Every time we survive a battle or a war, we struggle but we stand back again, yet a new conflict arises.

This time, Lebanon is united in all its sects and religions; we are all under one flag and supporting the Lebanese Army. Do not underestimate us; our men are filled with dedication and resilience. With little resources, our army stands tall and ready to defeat whomever threatens their beloved land. Not only do they defend us in battle, but they are present everyday ensuring safety and tranquility even in times of comfort.

Some celebrities cancelled their concerts; Najwa Karam for instance, said that she will not sing as long as her land is hurt. Zein El Omr tweeted; "Your army is right young Lebanese, volunteer, the army is our honor." And he himself has volunteered. Haifa Wehbe and Assi el Halani also cancelled their concerts. Many other celebrities, whom I didn't mention, have also tweeted, but the support was not only through words. A Lebanese immigrant along with his brother donated 150,000,000 LBP for the Army. This is what we want, Lebanese standing hand in hand, assisting with whichever way possible. Whatever people can afford, and whatever the tools are, contribute, you can make a difference.

Finally, we all pray that God protects us against all evil and cease the bloodshed. We pray that families no longer grief, and that peace finally prevails. We salute every martyr, be it a soldier, a lieutenant, or a captain who has sacrificed his life in battle. We pray that your souls rest in peace...
