Josiane El Zir is a talented Lebanese actress, singer, TV presenter and entertainer. Beiruting team had a big pleasure doing a small Q&A with her, as we got to know more about her:
Q: We know you're a multi talented artist: a singer, a TV host, an actress & an entertainer. We are really interested to know the story behind the successful person you are today. Tell us a bit about your childhood, where & what you studied and about everything that made you who you are today.
A: Well, I loved ART ever since I was a little girl, and I wanted to become a singer ever since I was 12. I used to sing all the times, everywhere and I still do!
My dad was against the idea of having his little girl sing at restaurants and at nightclubs, so I had to study Architecture for 3 years at USEK then, switched to Cinema.
I was elected Miss Nadine Cover Girl in 1999 then, started receiving offers like presenting a show on MBC and acting in a comedy show on Future TV.
So I became more interested in dancing and singing, I learned how to dance and I was really into karaoke...
Since then, everything came to me, I didn't plan anything. I had offers for TV shows, I traveled abroad, and became where I am today.
I'm a believer, I believe that GOD has plans for us 100 times better than what we will ever plan for ourselves, so if we just let him do the work and wait, the chance will come to us eventually. GOD does not use shortcuts, so we better be patient and I was a good girl and I waited :)
I also write songs. I started since I was a school student. I never knew that what I was writing is good, until DJ BOB HOWARD heard me singing one of my own songs, and asked me about it. I told him that it's nothing, just something that I made up. He made me sing it again, he said he loved it so he prepared the music for it, and it came out!
Q: We definitely think that you are doing an amazing job & that you really do have those multi talents to excel in everything you're doing. However, we would like to know where do you find yourself most? Also, do you believe that being multi talented makes the definition of an artist?
A: An artist is multi talented but, s/he doesn't have to excel in everything. If you think that I do then, I'm flattered, and I think this is a blessing :)
What I love to do most is singing! I always sing and sing and sing... When I sing, I become in a different world! It makes me happy, music touches my soul. Songs, whether mine or not, can affect my mood and touch my heart. Put me where there's loud and good music, fresh air, a drink, and I will feel like a reborn.
Q: What we absolutely like about you is your unique style, specifically your hairstyle. We think you are a daring & a very self-confident woman & few are the celebrities like you. We wouldn't imagine you with long hair but, will you ever think of shifting to the long hairstyle? (We hope not!)
A: Last new year's eve, I wrote on my Facebook page that I'm going to grow my hair back (my boyfriend loves my hair long and black cause it suits me), and I started growing it. You might laugh at me if I tell you how upset and uncomfortable I was. I was pissed all the time so I went back and cut it. After that, I was fine again! I love my hair the way it is. I also love it long & black but, I don't feel like I'm bored from this look yet though I get bored easily!
Q: Your new show on LBC is really nice & what makes it even better is that you're it's presenter. Tell us more about your experience in this show.
A: Thank you! I barely had time to prepare for this show, I had one day only to prepare for a full show on LBCI and that was a HUGE responsibility. I mean it's LBCI, not a chance anyone gets or that I would get every day. So I decided to leave it simple, natural and just be ME. When my friends watched it, they told me it was as if I'm sitting in their living room, playing with them! I'm glad that people loved that character cause that is who I really am :)
Q: After "Shakhsiye Aw Ghenniye", where are we going to see you next? Tell us about your future plans.
A: "Shakhsiye aw Ghenniye" wasn't in my plans, it actually made me postpone my plan, which was my album. Now I will start working on it again as soon as I finish shooting. Also, I started my own business: a new shop called "Cravate et Corset" in Dekwaneh so it is taking a lot of my time. I also did it my way; it's for both men and women! The women's section is on the 2nd floor. It's white, pink, green and blue, full with make up, bags and whatever interests me first at any shop! So "nshalla" I will invite you to the opening soon then, to the launching of my album ;)
