On September 29, 2012, a new stunning Lebanese queen from Zahle was born. Rina Chibani, 21, an interior architecture student at USEK was crowned Miss Lebanon 2012.
For the first time in the history of Miss Lebanon and probably other beauty pageants, two identical twin sisters competed against each other for the first place in this year's competition. The decision had to be made: Romy Chibani ended up second and said that she is more than happy to be her sister's 1st runner up.
LBC has been promising us all summer that this year Miss Lebanon is going to be extraordinarily different than the past years, and that it's definitely going to bring back the good old glorious days.
They started by revealing the numerous and luxurious prizes that the queen is going to win including a brand new Audi car & a big beautiful apartment.
What was also noticeable this year, is that LBC's Miss Lebanon team was extremely active on social media websites like Facebook & Twitter and of course their own website. Not only they were active but also very interactive with people, taking their opinion, sharing thoughts with them and keeping them up to date about every single thing before, during and after the event. Once again, Beiruting.com was the first to share and publish all photos & news.
However, the big surprise of that night was kept confidential. The names of the contestants were not revealed until the evening started. This was to hide the twins phenomenon which apparently became the title of the whole evening, and even a worldwide trending subject on Twitter.
Ever since they appeared on stage, the jury and the audience knew it. From the swimsuit to the evening gown competition, the twins, especially Rina with her elegant Azzaro dress, were shining and were receiving the highest grades. Romy was a few points ahead though until it was time for the common question that determined the order of the top 5 finalists:
Miss Lebanon 2012: Rina Chibani.
1st Runner Up: Romy Chibani.
2nd Runner Up: Krystel Loutfi.
3rd Runner Up: Elsa-Maria Stephan.
4th Runner Up: Joanne Semaan.
The jury was of nine respected members: Georgina Rizk, Ziad Baroud, Maxime Chaya, Mona Fares, Nancy Ajram, Michel Habis, Raya Daouk, Jihane Alame, Anachar Basbous.
Above was the official jury of the contest; however, two lucky ladies received two special titles after each of the 16 contestants voted for: Joanne Semaan as Miss Congeniality, and Eliane Yaacoub as Miss Talent.
Singers Wael Kfoury and Nesma Mahgoub had some amazing performances during the night that made it even more glamorous.
Miss Lebanon 2012 was hosted by the lovely mom-to-be Rola Bahnam, and produced by the one and only accomplished woman Roula Saad.
What we have seen from Rina so far is the real definition of "La Simplicité Fait La Beauté". Some rumors said that the twins were using some hair extensions; however, those rumors were proven wrong, and both sisters were at their utmost simplicity with discreet make up, classy nail polish and decent accessories.
Rina is going to participate in Miss Universe 2012 on December 19 at Theatre for the Performing Arts at the Planet Hollywood and Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Beiruting.com congratulates all the organizers and producers of this successful event and of course our biggest congrats goes to Rina hoping that she'll become the new Georgina Rizk!
This year, LBC succeeded in keeping this big promise. All the Lebanese people were satisfied, and are all expressing how the queen really deserved it this time. A lot of Facebook comments stated: "Finally, a real queen!". We at Beiruting.com could not agree more, so thank you LBC, especially LBC's Miss Lebanon Team, and thanks for the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism for bringing the good old glorious days back as promised.
