From Tuesday 30 June 2015, British Airways flights from Beirut in Lebanon will arrive into London Heathrow's Terminal 5, the home of British Airways.
The announcement is part of a detailed timetable unveiled today by British Airways to consolidate all its flights into London Heathrow from three terminals into two terminals, Terminal 3 (T3) and Terminal 5 (T5) by the end of next year. Once all phases and moves are completed, 118 of British Airways' Heathrow routes will operate from T5 while 21 will operate from T3.
Flights from Beirut currently arrive into Terminal 1 at the UK's largest airport and the move will offer customers a significantly enhanced experience. Across the Middle East and Central Asia flights from Baku in Azerbaijan and Amman in Jordan will also move from T1 to T5 next year.
The transfer of flights from T3 and T5 is part of British Airways' efforts to consolidate its operations in time for the closure of T1 set for the end of 2015.
Paolo De Renzis, Area Commercial Manager for the Middle East and Central Asia for British Airways says, "The move to Terminal 5 will further drive operational efficiency and offer customers an enhanced travel experience with access to our new lounges and world class shopping outlets. The shift between terminals will also offer improved connection timings - it's important to remember that we offer a worldwide route network of 179 destinations across more than 70 countries."
British Airways' invested in an extensive overhaul of its airport lounges in T5 and following the relocation of the majority of its operations to T5 in 2015, the airline will continue to grow its product offerings at the terminal. Currently there are six lounges within the terminal that were built were built at cost of £60 million: The Concorde Room, The First class lounge, three Club Lounges and an Arrivals Lounge.
Additionally, Gold or Silver Executive Club members and passengers flying Club World or First can now experience the new Galleries lounges and acclaimed signature Elemis spa travel treatments. Collectively the lounges, known as 'Galleries', are capable of hosting up to 2,500 people.
Terminal 5 was named Best Airport Terminal and awarded the Best Airport Shopping at the SKYTRAX World Airport Awards in 2013*.
