Since its debut in 1989, the "Simpsons" have brought joy and laughs to Americans everywhere. And through death, the show's creator Sam Simon plans to uphold that legacy.
NBC exclusively interviewed Simon, reporting that the man behind the "Simpsons," diagnosed with colon cancer in 2012, plans to give his entire fortune away to charity.
He's worked closely with PETA and according to TIME, has put much of his funds into his charity, The Sam Simon Foundation, already. Under his charity, the money goes to feeding families and children in need as well as animals.
"A lot of its selfish," he tells Maria Shriver of NBC. "I get to watch these animals that have been in concrete bukners their whole life, I get ot see them taking their first steps in grass.
Now, his $100 million fortune will go to help others, too.
"I'm the happiest I've ever been," he says.
