    Write to Santa Initiative

    14 november 2012

LibanPost Launches its New Route to the North Pole

On Tuesday November 13, LibanPost held a press conference at their headquarters to introduce their latest initiative; "Write to Santa". Taking part in spreading some holiday magic this year, they revealed the first new Santa postcard, complete with the first Lebanese Santa stamp that will be sold as off November 16 in LibanPost offices. In the presence of the Minister of Telecommunication H.E Nicolas Sehnaoui, LibanPost CEO Mr. Khalil Daoud, Himaya representative Mrs. Viviane Debbas, and select members of the media, the first postcards were written and mailed by none other than the guests' children.

LibanPost generously pledged to donate their profit from the sale of the postcards, at 5,000 LL per card, to Himaya, an organization that promotes the global protection of children from all types of abuse. Mr. Daoud welcomed the guests and jokingly said "Our routes have expanded this year to include the North Pole". He continued to say "We're excited and proud of this initiative as it lets us not only play a role in adding some magic but teaches our children to write letters, make selfless wishes, and allows them and us to help a great cause".

H.E Nicholas Sehnaoui commended LibanPost on their efforts and said "In this age of technology, the beauty and simplicity of writing a letter has been forgotten. LibanPost is reviving it in a fun and educational manner". Himaya representative Mrs. Debbas, matched the minister's tone and said "The continuity of our work depends on the generous donations of companies like LibanPost that go out of their way to help. The fact that some proceeds will be coming from children wishing to help out other children make it all the much sweeter."

Meanwhile the guest's children were in a parallel room writing out their wishes to Santa.  With the guidance of Santa's helper, an elf, the children put their hearts and spirits in making a wish that was bigger than themselves. Imagine their surprise when Santa, helped out by LibanPost, would reply a few days later thanking them for their wish.

Santa Clause is a well loved symbol of childhood, hope, dreams, and wishes for most Lebanese children of all social and geographical backgrounds. And while the idea of Santa is well embraced the concept of mailing a letter to Santa is missing in Lebanon. LibanPost addressed this opportunity to play a role in spreading season's cheer while helping a good cause. What better way to start off the holiday season than sending a letter to Santa, receiving one back, but most important of all knowing that your contribution is making a child's life better?
