The British Ambassador to Lebanon H.E. Tom Fletcher will be departing by the end of this week with a title that best describes this extraordinary young diplomat who touched the hearts of many Lebanese: The Ambassador of ONE LEBANON. He was granted this honorary title by the Soprano Tania Kassis, President of ONE LEBANON, in the midst of a private ceremony surrounded by the board members Dr. Fouad Zmokhol, Lina Moukheiber, Ziad Mikati and Lamia Darouni, the executive committee as well as many friends and supporters.
His love of Lebanon is remarkable, but his attachment to the young Lebanese generations is undeniable. Beyond his diplomatic mission, he was the driving force behind the establishment of ONE LEBANON, the NGO. His encouragement to set-up a platform that would unite people around music and culture pushed the Lebanese Soprano Tania Kassis to move forward with the translation of this dream into reality. Being "United for Tomorrow" became more than a message, but a living reality that crystallized with two concerts held last year and this year. H.E. Tom Fletcher is more than an ambassador to Lebanon and of ONE LEBANON, he is what every Lebanese ought to be, a uniting citizen and a loving brother.
At this occasion, the board members announced that ONE LEBANON in collaboration with AUB CEC will be presenting the first Citizenship Education Program which is rooted in the idea that social change requires individuals, on their own and collectively, to transform their understanding of what is possible, and to shift their sense of their own roles and efficacy in bringing about change. The Citizenship Education Program supports, equips, and inspires participants to plan and implement positive, powerful, and non-violent action strategies to create the changes they want in their lives.
