The 118th Canton Fair Unveiled at Press Conference in Beirut
BEIRUT - 11 SEP 2015 - The China Foreign Trade Centre announced the organising of the 118th China Import and Export Canton Fair (the Canton Fair) to be held in China in October, co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Guangdong Provence. The announcement was made at a video press conference at the Le Gray Hotel where a number of Lebanese business people, enterprise owners and the media were present.
"China and Lebanon have enjoyed a fast developing healthy economic and trade relationship since establishing diplomatic relations in 1971," said Hakel Wen, the Canton Fair's International VIP Service Executive. "The Fair is a bond of friendship and a bridge for trade to all business owners and enterprises all around the world."
The total bilateral trade volume between China and Lebanon in 2014 was at 2.63 billion US Dollars increasing by 3.7% from 2013.
The press conference unveiled the activities and services that will be on offer and available to the participants who will attend the leading trade fair in China.
"The Canton Fair offers a variety of unrivalled commodities to the Lebanese market and we are optimistic that this opens doors to exceptional Lebanese products to enter the huge Chinese market," added Wen. "We believe that this is a unique platform in the new Silk Road, offering vast economic prospects for both Lebanon and China."
Focused on international market demands, the Canton Fair exhibits over 150,000 categories of quality and feature products, both from China and overseas; about 24,000 of strictly selected enterprises from all over the world will be expected to participate in the coming session.
The total exhibition area at the International Pavilion is 20,000 sqm with 950 booths and a pre-matching service available online to ensure that quality importers are present as well as providing matchmaking facilities.
The Canton Fair offers a variety of exhibition services such as Overseas VIP Lounge, Multinational beneficial cooperation between international designers and prominent Chinese companies. In addition to the accessibility to the fair's e-commerce platform allowing it to turn into a smart Canton Fair.
In the 117th Canton Fair, a total of 184,800 professional buyers from 216 countries visited last spring, where 1,229 came from Lebanon, mainly interested in electronics, household electrical appliances, home decorations and consumer goods.
The Canton Fair pledges to protect Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) of all enterprises by setting a special office to receive trade disputes related to IPR infringements.
The 118th Canton Fair will be held in China Import and Export Fair Complex from Oct. 15 to Nov. 4, 2015. The Fair will be arranged in 3 phases; phase 1: Oct. 15-19, Phase 2: Oct. 23-27, and Phase 3: Oct. 31-Nov 4.

About The Canton Fair
The Canton Fair is a trade fair held in the spring and autumn seasons each year since 1957 in Guangzhou, China.
The Fair is co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the People's Government of the Guangdong Province, and organized by the China Foreign Trade Center.
The Fair is the largest trade fair in China and offers the leading range of products, sees large attendance rates and creates an environment of trade.
