Messi breaks Muller's record of 85 goals in a calendar year
The Argentine attacker surpassed the legendary West Germany and Bayern Munich striker with his two goals in the first half against Betis on Sunday night.
The Argentina international grabbed the opener in the 16th minute with a trademark dribble and finish to move level with the German striker, who achieved the feat in 1972.
The 25-year-old then added his historic second nine minutes later from an Andres Iniesta backheel, after a smart one-two with his teammate, to claim his place in the record books.
