The inauguration of "Science Days" was held at Horsh Beirut, under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Mr. Raymond Araiji, represented by Dr. Walid Moussallem, and in the presence of Mr. Fadi Yarak, Director General of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Ms. Rita Kiwan representing the Minister of Information, Dr. Bilal Hamad, President of the Municipality of Beirut, and the members of Beirut Municipal Council, Mr. Francois Barras, Ambassador of Switzerland in Lebanon, Mr. Rémy Pagani, Mayor of the City of Geneva, Mr. Boris Wastiau, Director of the Musée d'ethnographie de Genève, Dr. Amr Galal Adawi, President of Beirut Arab University, Sheikh Malek El-Khoury, Vice Chairman of the Science Days Committee, Dr. Loubna Haidar, Project Coordinator, in addition to a large audience of students, teachers, researchers, and science lovers from all Lebanese regions and the media.
Following the Lebanese and the Swiss anthems, Sheikh Malek El-Khoury welcomed the attendees and explained that "within every edition, "Science Days" aims at creating a meeting space between science and people in a fun and interactive way; we work hard to organize this exhibition as we see continuous interest from schools, universities, associations, and private institutions from all Lebanese regions."
In its 7th edition, more than 45 projects were showcased with themes such as: Environment, Biodiversity, Physics and Chemistry, Life Science and Health, Technology and Computer Science, Astronomy, Innovation, Music and Science. Lebanon's foremost universities, schools, NGOs and private entities presented their latest scientific inventions, projects and live science experiments.
The event was held on October 9, 10, 11, and organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon, and the City of Geneva - Department of Culture and Sports, the Swiss Embassy in Lebanon, and the Municipality of Beirut.
