In celebration of Hilton Worldwide's annual Global Month of Service, throughout October, more than 600 volunteers from Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand and Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace took the opportunity to share their passion for hospitality and service via hands-on volunteer projects and events in their local communities.
Community service is a tradition embedded in the company for nearly 100 years, and throughout the year Team Members dedicate their time, passion and unique brand of hospitality to create positive change in their local communities. The efforts deployed by Hilton Hotels in Beirut are part of Hilton's month-long celebration of the company's year-round commitment to serving and enriching the communities where we live, work and travel.
"Team members' pride is fostered through our CR program, Travel With Purpose", said Naïf Zureikat, Cluster General Manager for Hilton Beirut Habtour Grand and Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace. "Community involvement, charitable participation and donating to specific and strategic causes are some of the most meaningful ways our team members contribute to enabling our communities while living our values", he added.
The Global Month of Service was kicked off on the 6th of October with a collective Cedar Tree planting activity at the Cedars of Barouq, followed throughout the month by several community service initiatives whereby Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand hosted a group of 45 elderlies from Bassma NGO for lunch; team members from Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand and Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace donated blood to Donner Sang Compter in the aim of saving the lives of the little patients of the Children Cancer Center; and last but not least, food baskets including food cans, packs of sugar, salt, pasta, rice and beans, in addition to milk, oil and other food items were collected for the Lebanese Food Bank to be distributed to Lebanese families in need.
Global Month of Service is Hilton Worldwide's largest annual community service initiative and mobilizes hundreds of thousands of Team Members from every region to engage in numerous volunteer events and activities happening around the world. Volunteers offer their time to support a wide range of projects including conserving natural resources, mentoring and training young people, creating amenity care packages for communities in need, collecting surplus food and distributing to underserved communities and aiding local communities devastated by disaster.
Since its inaugural service celebration in 2012, Hilton volunteers have provided support to more than 6,700 projects worldwide contributing more than 300,000 hours of community service. Last year in just one week, Hilton hosted more than 3,500 projects in 86 countries, volunteering more than 150,000 hours. The company aims to complete 3,750 projects across its global footprint.
