From November 12 to14, 2015, through its Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development (LIVCD) project, USAID is supporting the participation of 20 food cooperatives and small businesses at the Beirut Cooking Festival in the 'Atayeb Lebnanieh' exhibition booth. LIVCD has worked with participants from various regions across Lebanon to improve production processes, upgrade product quality, and facilitate market access. Through their participation in the Festival, these businesses will display their products during tasting sessions, thereby increasing exposure and generating additional sales.
LIVCD, in cooperation with the Rural Delights Cooperative, is inviting "No Garlic No Onions" blogger Anthony Rehayel to promote rural Lebanese products daily between 3 and 7pm. Through daily cooking shows, the cooperatives will also feature traditional local recipes that emphasize and promote the benefits of healthy cooking.
"The Beirut Cooking Festival is an important opportunity for small-scale cooperatives to showcase their delicious products. This will help them to expand their market reach and increase their incomes," commented Dr. Jane Gleason, Chief of Party of LIVCD.
