With the election of Ms. Nora Joumblatt as the new Chair of the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL), succeeding Mrs. Salwa Salman after her mandate ends in 31 December 2015:
The former chair of the CCCL, engineer Paul Eddé and his wife Rosie organized a dinner at E Café Sursock in honor of Mrs. Nora Joumblatt and the executive board members.
It was a good occasion to gather each of H.E. Mohamad Khalife and his spouse, H.E. Raymond Audi and his spouse Mrs May Audi, Mr. Roger Eddé, Dr. Fadlo R. Khuri President of AUB, Dr. Mohamed H. Sayegh, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Vice President of Medical Affairs at the AUB, Dr. Hassan El Solh, Chief of staff at AUBMC, Director of CCCL and Naef K. Basile Cancer Institute, Dr. Miguel Abboud Chairman of the pediatrics department at AUBMC, Mrs. Hana Chaar Choueib General Manager of the CCCL, members of the executive board, members of the honorary board and several guests.
In his welcome speech Mr. Paul Eddé noted the achievements of Mrs. Salwa Salman the previous chair of the CCCL while thanking her for her dedication to the noble cause of the center. Also, Eddé expressed his felicitations and his best wishes to the new Chair Mrs. Nora Joumblatt. He also cited the fruitful cooperation between the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon and the American University of Beirut Medical Center and the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, USA which resulted in an exceptional success on the research level in terms of treating kids with cancer.
In his brief word Dr. Sayegh also praised the existing cooperation between the two parties while also thanking Mr. Paul Eddé and his wife for their hospitality. Sayegh wished Mrs. Nora Joumblatt the best of luck in her functions as the new chair of the center, assuring her that the strategic cooperation between the AUBMC and the CCCL will continue.
It is worth mentioning that the CCCL's bylaws state that it is essential to elect a new executive committee and a chairperson each 3 years.
