Under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism, H.E. Mr. Michel Pharaon, Layali Arz Tannourine's events committee, chaired by Mrs. Marlene Harb, inaugurated the "Tannourine Christmas Village," kicking off the holiday celebrations on December 19, 2015. In presence of the Minister of Telecommunications, H.E. Mr. Boutros Harb, officials, media representatives and the general Public, the inauguration event saw the reveal and lighting of Tannourine's Christmas crèche - the pinnacle of the festive calendar, followed by a lyrical performance by tenor Elia Francis.
Organized by ICE International Events, the leading Lebanon-based Events Company, and sponsored by Alfa, the ceremony witnessed a cheerful festive atmosphere, gathering a number of unfortunate children from various Lebanese NGOs to celebrate the season, and inviting them to explore the 160 sqm space. At the venue, children were also handed over nice presents after taking souvenir pictures with Santa Claus.
Tannourine is a prime Lebanese location due to its abundant and rich heritage, including the largest cedar reserve in Lebanon. The main objective of the Christmas village is to entice visitors to the region, and further revive tourist attractions this festive season.
Mr. Shady Fayad, Chairman at ICE International Events, commented on the occasion, saying, "ICE International Events, with the trust and collaboration of Layali Arz Tannourine's events committee, are very proud to launch the region's first Christmas village. Christmas in Tannourine is a truly unique experience and with the launch of its village, offers a fantastic range of family attractions and cultural gems to get visitors into the Christmas spirit."
Mrs. Marlene Harb, Head of Layali Arz Tannourine's events committee, explained Tannourine embodies the image of Lebanon's culture, civilization, beauty and authenticity, adding, "The Christmas village we present to you is reproduction of the Bethlehem Village. There is really something for families and friends to experience here, and we hope it proves to be a useful tool for those who wish a magical festive experience."
As concept creators and executioners of a wide number of world-class events, including the Jounieh, Ghosta and Cedar International Festivals, as well as the Kohar concert and Pope's visit to Lebanon, ICE will continue to organize, in the most creative ways, festivals that will astonish the Lebanese like never before.
Tannourine's Christmas crèche will open daily throughout the holiday season, until early January.
